Our favorite adventure in Sedona was the Verde Canyon Railroad. All three of us loved it. Both Gil and I took many pictures, while L.L. stole the hearts of every person she came in contact with.
It’s a 4-hour journey beginning in Clarkdale where you see tons of the local terrain, go thru a tunnel, then turn around at Perkinsville (a ghost ranch). They have open air viewing cars with a tour guide, serve snacks, offer wine and other refreshments. Plus, have some of the nicest staff we encountered on our vacation AND a Santa for the holidays!
This day was by far my favorite, even though every day was enjoyable. There was just something special about this one. The train goes so slow that you can see everything, get lots of good pictures. Plus, feels so low key that even a couple with an 8 month old feel relaxed.
We had plenty of food, even though they said it was just snacks. Got a bottle of wine, that they re-corked for free, so you could take it home with you. Then, as a special treat had ice cream sandwiches – score!
When you see the pictures I’m sure you will get it. There’s just one more thing I wanted to say about this one, well, two more things. One, is that we found the cutest gifts for my nephews for Christmas (I was SO excited!). The highlight of that gift was the wooden train whistles, that I’m sure I will pay for down the road with some other special gift for L.L. from her Auntie. Two, is that we were complimented by the lady in charge of the service in our car. She announced to everyone in our car how L.L. reminded her of her kids and that she was so well behaved, gave kudos to us as the parents – really? How could I not love this adventure?!
